The theory exam in English
The CBR car theory exam (category B) can be taken in English without an interpreter. It has three parts: hazard perception, knowledge and insight. For other languages you need a CBR-approved interpreter, arranged and paid by yourself.
Preparing for theory
Use an online course and practise with mock exams until you pass them comfortably. Rijschool Fane's packages include an iTheorie online course.
The practical exam
The practical exam takes about 55 minutes: an eye test, driving in town, outside built-up areas and often on the motorway, special manoeuvres and a stretch of independent driving.
Language: most CBR examiners speak English. If yours doesn't, an interpreter can join, and your instructor can come along as interpreter in the back seat. Your instructor also explains the procedure and common instructions in English beforehand, so nothing comes as a surprise.
